I start in the garden, what do I do?

The process of creating an orchard must follow some guidelines and an organization that will take us some time before stepping on the field, so to speak. We have to take paper and pen (and calculator) and leave everything ready on paper, in order to get away from problems in the future. We will try to solve the main doubts that appear when setting up a garden. Shall we start?

FIRST OF ALL, WHY A VEGETABLE GARDEN?

A garden brings you many things, we already saw it in the article of the 5 elements that a garden can provide you indirectly , but of so many indirect things that benefits us, the main one is to obtain healthy and organic food.

HOW BIG DO I BUILD MY GARDEN?

In this sense, there are two main questions that we will have to solve:

What size garden is indicated? Will I have enough harvest?

Size does matter (at least in this section;)) although, as you know, large productions can be achieved by making the most of the land, as you already saw in the 1-square-meter orchard . In the deep bed , large productions are also achieved because there is an abundance of organic matter and the soil is very loose (from digging and digging), so in the end, competition for nutrients is very low.

But if we talk about numbers, we have to go to the article on the yield per square meter of your organic garden , where we will see the productions of some vegetables according to the surface area.

HOW DO I SET UP MY GARDEN?

At this point, we will have to see how we do it. We can select our final land to set up the garden, remove the weeds and leave the land decent, and then directly plant our seeds or seedlings (once allowed to grow in pots). This system is routine and we will not always obtain desired productions. Can we improve them? YES, with some very specific methods, elaborated and developed by different authors, and each one with extraordinary results in terms of production, quality and avoidance of problems (pests and diseases, physiopathies in the garden , etc.).

Regarding the latter, here you have the different methods to set up a garden at home  (here we will find the methods of Gaspar Caballero, John Seymour , etc.), although there are some more, quite specific to improve production, such as the garden in eye lock , or the raised garden , which stands out above all for the comfort in its maintenance.

VERY IMPORTANT, WHAT AND WHEN TO PLANT!

The answer to the question when you decide it, and the answer is when you want. But the answer to what depends above all on when. To solve this question we have to go to a cultivation calendar , which will tell us, depending on the time in which we want to set up the garden, what is the most suitable for that date. That simple and that easy. In addition, when it comes to knowing its harvest, we will also have a harvest period to guide us, although we always recommend that you manually check if the product is to be harvested or not, depending on the hardness, color and even the smell of vegetables, fruits. or vegetables.

Well, we already know how much we are going to produce in our garden, how we are going to do it and when we can plant, is there something else missing? Yes! Very important, to know how what we plant is grown, right?

HOW TO PLANT AND CARE FOR OUR GARDEN PLANTS

It is useless to prepare the best garden in the world, with the best soil quality, the best orientation, planting at the right time and everything else if we do not know what the best conditions are for the crops. There is also a solution for that.

Day by day we go (or at least we try) adding tokens and items of fruits, vegetables and vegetables. We try that you know the climatic requirements, of the soil, of fertilizer, of irrigation and some other things of interest.
