TOMATO VARIETIES
Throughout the world we can find a wide variety of tomatoes to grow and bring to the table. When growing them, we must establish criteria related to the results we expect from our cultivation (taste, production, resistance to diseases, etc.) For this reason, at Gardenprue we gather the best known and classify them. The criteria that dominate in the production of the new tomato varieties are the following.

The most commonly used varieties of tomatoes are the following:

BALADRE: this variety, present in the Valencian garden, produces large fruits, with smooth and fine skin. It has a production of around 4 kg / m2.

BELLA ROSA: this variety produces great yields. The fruit is large, reddish and shiny. Tolerates high temperatures and humid areas.

CABRI: it is a hybrid tomato variety of semi-early maturation. The fruits are rounded and firm, resistant to cracking, with a fleshy interior and slightly marked green shoulders. It has a medium vigor and good foliage. It can be cultivated without training.

CARACAS: it is a plant of creeping cultivation and semi-late maturing. Fruits of thick caliber, without green neck, flattened and very firm and fleshy. The plant is very vigorous.

CHARCOAL: It is a very vigorous variety. Reddish-brown fruit, juicy, with fine skin and abundant production.

CHERRY: it is a well-known variety, ideal for fresh consumption. Needs training. The fruit is a small berry, larger than a cherry. It requires large amounts of light.

DELISA: produces large, slightly grooved fruits that are well preserved. The plant has a vigorous growth. Slightly early.

DOMBITO: It is a vigorous variety that produces large, rounded fruits, reaching 300-400 grams per fruit. It is of early production and its fruits are susceptible to mechanical manipulation.

STAR: It is a variety of great growth and uniformity of the fruit. It offers large productions with a large percentage of quality fruits (each cluster can hold between 8 and 10 fruits). It adapts to drought and salinity conditions. It is adaptable to both outdoor conditions and greenhouses.

JUBOLINE: It is a hybrid of globose fruits and green neck, resistant to cracking and handling.

KUMATO: it is a vigorous and productive variety. Its fruits are dark red with a very characteristic flavor. Ideal for fresh consumption.

MARGLOBE: this variety of tomato has a medium earliness. Its fruits are globose, smooth, full and compact. Bright red with green shoulders.

MELTINE: it is of great development and high production of tomato. The resulting fruit is heterogeneous in terms of quality for export. The fruits are large, round and fleshy. It is very resistant to salinity, admitting water between 3 and 4 grams of total salts.

MONSERRAT: it is a variety highly appreciated for its large, flattened and highly ribbed fruits. The fruit has little pulp and seeds, thick-walled and sweet flavor.

MUCHAMIEL: It is a rustic variety with large fruits and very ribbed. It is very resistant to adverse conditions, adapting well to outdoor conditions.

NEMATO: It is a variety of tomato suitable for land with nematode problems. The fruits are round and resistant to handling or transport.

GIRONA PEAR: this variety with designation of origin can reach 1.5 meters in height. It produces fleshy, thin-skinned fruits ideal for fresh consumption.

PIERALBO: It is a variety that produces very round fruits, with a greenish neck and good coloration.

RAF (“black leg”): tomatoes of this variety can be used for the market or for canning. It is vigorous, with flat, thick fruit and slightly ribbed to the peduncle. It is resistant to handling and transport.

ROMA: tomato variety late and suitable for peeling and concentrating. It is not very sensitive to the conditions of the crop. It produces small pear-shaped fruits, with good coloration and late fruiting. The fruits are fleshy and have few seeds.

SOBETO: It has a vigorous growth, produces very round fruits and of great resistance in handling.

SONATINE : It is a variety of early production tomato. It produces round fruits with good resistance to handling. It is more resistant than other varieties at low temperatures and short days.

TERRADES: It is a semi-early variety, with thick, globose, smooth, full and compact fruits. Provides an intense red fruit color and green shoulders. It is a recommended variety for summer and early autumn crops due to its good and long production.
