What is Permaculture and its importance

It is difficult to define the term permaculture without falling short . Because it is an ecological trend but at the same time it encompasses much more concepts, from the ethics of sustainability to the principle of ecological design, caring for the earth and caring for people. Today at Gardenprue, we teach you to live with the natural environment.

 WHAT IS PERMACULTURE?

The permacultura is the integration of the environment to human beings. It is a sustainable project in which the human being and the landscape are integrated and harmonized. This concept also includes the fact of reusing materials increasing their useful life, avoiding the generation of waste as much as possible, and the creation of ecological systems for agriculture in the most sustainable way.

The word permaculture was coined by Bill Mollison  around the 70s, which talks about establishing a relationship with nature, while extracting enough food, fiber and energy from it to satisfy local needs.

WHERE CAN WE FIND THE CONCEPT OF PERMACULTURE?

Although the definition seems a bit intricate, being a permaculturist is simple. Have an efficient house (bioclimatic), with a garden where you can have an ecological garden , generating fertilizer naturally through compost, and in general, try to be self-sufficient.

If we search the web, there are many pages related to permaculture in which they offer advice on green building, recycling or waste use.

THE 7 DOMAINS OF PERMACULTURE

As if it were a flower and each leaf represents a section or domain, permaculture is divided into 7 elements of action:

ELEMENT 1: LAND AND NATURE MANAGEMENT

This section of permaculture involves the conservation and regeneration of wild spaces, the conservation of seed banks (the dreaded genetic drift), integrated pest control, etc.

ELEMENT 2: GREEN BUILDING

Bioconstruction is the construction of elements to be protected with natural or recyclable elements, such as straw, adobe, clay, etc.

ELEMENT 3: TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY

In this section of permaculture we try to take advantage of renewable energy (wind, solar, geothermal), for the benefit of humans and animals. In addition, the materials that can be reused are used to manufacture new ones for different uses. This is where the concept of design for savings was born.

ELEMENT 4: EDUCATION AND CULTURE

Permaculture is growing and also encompasses the education of people, social awareness and environmental ethics.

ELEMENT 5: PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING

This section focuses more on natural techniques to achieve physical well-being through healthy techniques. The feeding of ecological and healthy products, the practice of sports in environmental environments, use of medicinal plants and use of their properties, etc.

ELEMENT 6: ECONOMICS AND FINANCE

It is based on stimulating the local economy through local systems of savings, volunteering, trade and exchange of goods and ethical investments.

ELEMENT 7: LAND TENURE AND COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE

The creation of ecovillages and sustainable communities, production and consumption cooperatives.

The concept of permaculture is so broad that it falls short of doing it in an article. Here we have mentioned the fundamental pillars on which it moves but little by little we will upload articles that are related to this movement. Don’t miss them !;)
